The second-ranked UWF football team has 11 student-athletes who have already earned their undergraduate degree and playing for the Argonauts this fall. UWF’s number puts it as the highest of any non-Division 1 program according to the data released by the National Football Foundation on Wednesday.
Nationally, UWF ranks tied for 13th across all divisions behind Clemson (17), Pittsburgh (16), Arizona State (15), Baylor (14), Northwestern (14), SMU (14), Akron (12), Alabama (12), Houston (12), Maryland (12), Temple (12) and Virginia (12).
UWF’s student-athletes who have earned a bachelor’s degree include: Glen Bethel, Damarius Brinson, Gavin Burford, Pasqual Burgess, Braelen Evans, Andre Godfrey, Ezra Safford, Sam Vaughn, Jefferson Vea, Lee Walker and Quaide Weimerskirch.
UWF will be on the road this Saturday for the first time in 2018 when it faces No. 10 Midwestern State at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls, Texas. The game will be broadcast on the UWF Sports Network, ESPN Pensacola 94.5 FM with a 6:30 p.m. air time. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
