Veteran broadcaster Tommy Thrall is in his fifth season broadcasting UWF athletics. In the summer of 2016 he was chosen to serve as the ‘Voice of the Argonauts’ for the inaugural season of UWF Football.
Thrall, 32, has spent the past five years in Pensacola calling UWF men’s and women’s basketball, Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball and area high school football games.
“I am incredibly honored to be given this historic opportunity at UWF,” said Thrall. “I am excited to be broadcasting college football again and I’m grateful the University has entrusted me with this role. I can’t wait to get started telling the story of Argos football in September.”
“Tommy has been a valued member of the Argonaut family for a few years now going back with our basketball programs, and it made sense to see that relationship evolve with the next phase of our broadcast agreements with the start of football,” UWF Director of Athletics Dave Scott said.
Prior to moving to Pensacola, Thrall spent two seasons in the St. Louis Cardinals organization with their Single-A affiliate, the Quad Cities River Bandits. While in the Quad Cities, he also worked on local radio and television stations in the offseason announcing high school and college football, basketball and baseball games.
He began his career in broadcasting working for both Northwest Missouri State and the Kansas City T-Bones of the independent Northern League.
He earned his degree in broadcasting from Northwest Missouri State University in 2006.
In addition to his duties on game day, Thrall will serve as the host of UWF coaches shows on Blab TV and WPNN Radio – the official broadcast partners of the athletic department – and assist with the production of video features for GoArgos.com, the online home of UWF Athletics.
