The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs released the Southern League All-Star rosters today. Those rosters will consist of 6 Pensacola Blue Wahoos who will represent the South Division of the league. Pitcher’s, Brusdar Graterol, Griffin Jax, and Ryan Mason, will join second baseman Travis Blakenhorn, outfielder Jaylin Davis, and catcher Caleb Hamilton. These players have been voted onto the All-Star team by field managers, general managers, and radio broadcasters for the 10 Southern League teams.

Brusdar Graterol was an international signee out of Venezuela when he was just 16 years old for $150,000. After Tommy John surgery in 2015, he has blossomed into the Twin’s top pitching prospect and their number three overall. This season he has been nothing short of dominant. He boasts a 5-0 record with a 1.89 ERA, a 1.049 WHIP, and holds hitters to an average of .188 through 9 starts.

Griffin Jax is a 3rd round pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 2016 MLB Draft. A graduate of Air Force, Jax holds a 1.79 ERA through 8 starts. On top of that, he was perhaps the hottest pitcher to start the season allowing just two earned runs through his first six starts.

Ryan Mason is a 13th round draft pick of the Twins in 2016. Mason has been dominant out of the Wahoos’ bullpen this season. He boasts the 3rd most saves in the league with seven, has a 2.35 ERA, and an 11.0 strikeout per 9 ratio. Not only can he come in and lockdown one inning, but he has pitched multiple innings in five of his seven saves.

Travis Blakenhorn was a 3rd round pick in 2015. He has been tearing the cover off the ball since his promotion to Pensacola on April 26th. The Twins #28 prospect leads the league in home runs (9) and total bases (83), is second in hits (48), and is in the top 10 in slugging percentage (.539, 3rd), OPS (.887, 5th), RBIs (23, 6th), runs (24, 3rd), and batting average (.312, 7th).

Jaylin Davis was drafted in the 24th round in 2015. This season Davis has been nothing but consistent as he boasts a slash line of .282/.387/.465 with 8 home runs, 21 RBIs, and holds the team lead in runs scored (29) and stolen bases (6). Davis is also second on the team in hits (48), total bases (79), slugging percentage (.465), and OPS (.852).

Caleb Hamilton was drafted in the 23rd round of the 2016 MLB draft and has become Mr. Utility for the Wahoos. He has appeared in 26 games at catcher, 15 games at third, and 4 games at first. Along with his versatility, Hamilton has been good offensively as well. He is tied on the team in RBIs (23) and boasts a .350 on base percentage.

The 2019 Southern League All Star Game is on Tuesday, June 18th at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi at 6:35pm. All Star festivities kickoff on Monday, June 17th with FanFest at 3pm, followed by autographs with players on both teams, then the Home Run Derby starting at 5:30pm.
